• Bite orthotics – Bite orthotics, also called bite splints, are an effective way to stabilize your bite and alleviate the symptoms caused by TMD. Your bite orthotic is a removable plastic mouth guard that is customized to fit the dimensions of your mouth. Dr. Savory will use your bite orthotic to help bring your jaw into its ideal resting position, reducing the strain and tension caused by your misaligned bite. Often, you will only have to wear it at night.
• Leaf gauge – A leaf gauge is a device made up of a series of thin plastic strips, arranged in sequential order based on their thickness. Dr. Savory can use the leaf gauge to measure the severity of your malocclusion.
• Lucia jig – The Lucia jig is an acrylic device which gets custom-fabricated to fit over your two top front teeth. It is used to help your lower jaw relax, relieving the tension caused by TMD. The Lucia jig is an excellent treatment to help alleviate the pain caused by chronic headaches.
