Dental Bridges

Boulder, Colorado

Dental bridges are an excellent option to replace missing teeth, providing you with a beautiful, natural looking restoration. Your bridge will consist of two dental crowns which go on the adjacent teeth, and a false tooth which will be placed in the gap.

Dental bridges are an effective alternative to dental implants and dentures. They offer you a more stable restoration than dentures, and they are a much less invasive procedure than dental implants. At your initial consultation, Dr. Savory will review all of these options with you and recommend the ideal treatment for your unique oral health needs.

Benefits of Dental Bridges

Dental bridges offer you many benefits, including:

  • Restores your beautiful, natural looking smile
  • Enables you to chew and speak properly
  • Prevents your face from developing a sunken appearance, as is common when missing teeth are not replaced
  • Prevents adjacent teeth from shifting to fill the gap left by your missing tooth
  • Reduces the risk of bone loss and periodontal disease
  • Limits bite problems
  • Reduces the risk of tooth decay

Your Dental Bridge Procedure

Boulder family dentist, Dr. Gerald B. Savory, offers both traditional tooth-supported bridges as well as implant-supported bridges.

During your first visit to our office, Dr. Savory will prepare the adjacent teeth by removing a small amount of tooth enamel to accommodate your new dental crowns. Next, he will take an impression of your teeth which will be sent to the lab for the construction of your bridge. Dr. Savory will provide you with a temporary bridge to be worn while your permanent one is being constructed.

Once your permanent bridge has been created, you will return to Dr. Savory’s office so that he can place the dental crowns and fit the bridge properly to your teeth. Your crowns and bridge will be bonded in place, providing a permanent restoration.

If you need to replace multiple missing teeth, Dr. Savory may recommend implant-supported bridges instead of traditional tooth-supported bridges. In this procedure, dental implants will be used instead of your natural teeth to support your dental bridge. An implant will be placed in the jawbone for each missing tooth, and a series of dental crowns will be connected together to form one cohesive bridge. In order to be a candidate for implant-supported bridges, you must have sufficient bone in your jaw to support the dental implants.
